Game Animals

 

The analysis into the number of the game animals within the BNT was performed based on the executive bodies data within the Irkutsk Region, Buryatia Republic and Zabaikalksy Region.

In 2012, within the territory of the BNT the number of the hoofed animals significantly decreased. The numbers of the Far Eastern red deer, boar, roe deer, elk and wild reindeer in 2012 decreased, on average, by 9.6%. At the same time, in 2012 within the BNT there was seen the highest for the last 11 years value of the number of the musk deer. As compared to 2012, within the BNT, the number of Far Eastern red deer increased by 5.4 thou animals, musk deer -- by 7.8 thou animals, roe deer -- by 1.7 thou animals, elk -- by 2.5 thou animals, reindeer -- by 2.8 thou animals. There was seen the decrease in the amount of the boar animals by 2 thou animals.

The amount of the hoofed animals hunted within 2011-2012 decreased: boar -- by 4.2%, elk -- by 35%, wild reindeer -- by 21%, roe deer -- by 20%, Far Eastern red deer -- by 15%. The amount of musk deer animals hunted increased by 55%. The volume of the allowed hunting does not have a negative impact on the numbers of the hoofed animals. The increase in their number is prevented by the following: high level of poach hunting, increasing pressure from the wolves, a decease in the habitat area and factors, associated with anxiety, caused by various anthropogenic impacts.

The number of fur animals decreased in 2012. The yellow weasel decreased by 34%, fox -- by 14%, squirrel -- by 12%, winter hares -- by 2%. The number of the sable increased by 5%. The hunting of the hares and yellow weasel in 2012 decreased, while squirrels, fox and sable increased.

The number of prey within the BNT territory decreased: bear -- by 11%, lynx -- by 8%. At the same time, the number of the wolves increased by 6%. The hunting of the prey animals decreased by 2%, while the hunting of the lynx decreased by 28%, beer -- by 45%; the hunting of the bear in 2012 increased by 13%.
