Construction of the Drinking Water Production Facility in Kultuk has been Suspended

Construction of the drinking water production facility in Kultuk settlement of Slyudyansky district has been suspended from March 15 until the violations discovered in the course of inspection are eliminated. Kirovsky District Court of Irkutsk satisfied the corresponding claim of the Zapadno-Baykalskaya Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office.

The inspection of the facility under construction carried out by the specialists of the Zapadno-Baykalskaya Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office, Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage showed that AkvaSib violated the requirements of the federal laws “On Environment Protection” and “On Production and Consumer Wastes”. In particular, in the course of examination the traces of oil products, local dumps of production wastes were discovered in the territory of the construction project. The permission for performance by OOO AkvaSib of the excavation works for the water pipeline trenching was not provided during the inspection. It was established that violations were in place in public hearings regarding the facility construction and during the state environmental impact assessment.

Sergey Levchenko, the Governor of Irkutsk region, signed the application in the name of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation requesting to instruct the agencies subordinate to the Ministry to hold an additional inspection of the positive opinion of the state environmental impact assessment on the design documentation for the bottled drinking water production facility in Kultuk settlement of Slyudyansky district.
