Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Alexander Kozlov introduced his new deputy Pavel Baryshev to the staff of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The order on his appointment to the post of deputy minister was signed by the Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, the document is published on the official portal.  

Pavel Baryshev has worked in the field of civil defense for more than 35 years, has a PhD in military sciences. From 2017 to 2021, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Russia for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Management. He was awarded the medal "For Services to the Fatherland of the first degree", the Order of Honor and has the honorary title "Honored Rescuer of the Russian Federation".

It is planned to entrust him with the control and coordination of the work of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the field of water Resources, the Federal Agency for Water Resources, as well as the implementation of federal projects "Improvement of the Volga", "Preservation of unique water bodies", "Preservation of Lake Baikal". The powers of the Deputy head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia will also include coordination of the work of the Ministry and specialized services and agencies on regulatory issues in the field of protection of the ecological system of Lake Baikal. Among them is the identification, assessment and elimination of accumulated damage of the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill.
