Characteristics of habitat conditions

Spring began in the second half of April and ended in late May – early June. The spring activation of cyclonic activity led to an increase in wind speed, precipitation in the form of sleet and rain, the emergence and development of snow drifts, blizzards, storms. In the spring, night frosts were observed, and when the north-western anticyclones and cyclones moved, the cold weather returned.

Summer began in early June. The first half was cloudy and with little precipitation, in the second half of summer heavy precipitation prevailed, which led to river flooding and floods, the water level in the lakes also increased.

The beginning of winter almost everywhere fell in the first decade of November, and the end – in the first half of April. Winter in the valleys and hollows was dominated by frosty, wet, cloudy, windless, with a small snow cover in the pre-ice zone. In the upper parts of the ridges, the weather was more windy, snowy and frosty with late spring. November was relatively warm and little snow compared to the average summer data, December was marked by little snow and non-frost. In the south-west, early snowfall was observed, the temperature was above the annual average.

Autumn came in late August – early September. At relatively low daytime temperatures, night frosts occurred already in August. For the first half of autumn, there were periods of warm and sunny weather. In the autumn of 2022, a low yield of pine nuts and a low yield of fruit and berry crops were observed in the territory of the Trans-Baikal Territory, including on the BPT, in the places of the traditional habitat of the brown bear.

In aggregate, the climatic conditions on the territory of the Trans-Baikal Territory in 2022 can be considered satisfactory for the habitat and reproduction of wild animal populations.
