Characteristics of aquatic organisms (hydrobionts)

Below are 5 graphs with observation data of 5 groups of hydrobionts in the lake. Baikal in 2022 and for comparison – in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 . On the x axis – the months of 2015-2022, on the y axis – the average value of the population indicator or the total mass indicator during the survey. Each graph shows discontinuous lines consisting of horizontal segments of the length of the shooting time (1-3 months).

During 2022, the average quantitative indicators of groups of hydrobionts in the area of the Baikal SPIT, in the area of the BAM highway and in the Selenginsky shallow water of Lake Baikal are comparable with the values of previous years. There were no trends to increase or decrease the parameters.

In the Selenginsky shallow water area in September 2022, the number of phytoplankton varied in the range of 251-861 thousand cells/l.

During the year, the range of phytoplankton abundance in the northern part of Lake Baikal was within 125-5689 thousand cells/l, biomass – 18-2310 mg/m3. The minimum quantitative indicators were observed in September.
