Assessment of the overall anthropogenic impact on the natural environment
Data is provided by Siberian Branch of FGUNPP Rosgeolfond according to data of the Irkutsk Region Office of Rosprirodnadzor, Buryat Republic Office of Rosprirodnadzor, Trans-Baikal Territory Office of Rosprirodnadzor, Buryat Republic Regional Water Resources Office, Irkutsk Region Regional Water Resources Office of the Yenisei Basin Water Administration, Trans-Baikal Territory Regional Water Office of the Amur Basin Water Administration, Irkutskstat, Buryatstat, and Zabaikalkraistat
Changes in the Baikal Natural Area in 2012 from 2011:
Emissions increased by 27.1 % (2012: 483.7 thousand tons; 2011: 380.7 thousand tons; 2010: 434.2 thousand tons), mainly due to the increased emissions from the thermal power plant of Irkutskenergo OJSC and Gusinoozersk District Power Plant.
Wastewater discharge increased by 15.2% (2012: 461.5 million m3; 2011: 400.5 million m3; 2010: 422.7 million m3), due to the increased discharge from the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill and Gusinoozersk District Power Plant.
Production waste generation rates increased by 11% (2012: 83.5 million tons; 2011: 75.3 million tons; 2010: 31.1 million tons) due to the increased amount of overburden rock in the Okino-Klyuchevskoye field developed by Ugolny Razrez LLC (2012: 11.69 million tons; 2011: 4.8 million tons).
Changes in Central Environmental Zone of BNA in 2012 from 2011:
Emissions increased by 26.6 % (2012: 10.0 thousand tons; 2011: 7.9 thousand tons; 2010: 7.3 thousand tons).
Wastewater discharge increased by 39.1% (2012: 40.2 million m3; 2011: 28.9 million m3; 2010: 16.9 million m3).
Waste generation rates increased by 28.8% (2012: 945.7 thousand tons; 2011: 734.0 thousand tons; 2010: 531.1 thousand tons).
Emissions, discharges and waste generation rates increased due to the increased output of pulp by the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill.
